Values & Approach

Equity
We collaborate with and support organizations that center racial, ethnic, and gender equity and who have complimentary missions and values. We create access to opportunities, resources, and power for all communities. We examine and seek to address and redress social, racial, and cultural inequities in all aspects of our work.
Connection
We strive to create and nurture meaningful connections within and beyond our networks, to create a deeper, more complete understanding of the context in which we work and unlock new ways to break down barriers and grow lasting solutions.
Balance
We balance the needs of individuals and organizations within the natural, economic, historical, and social systems in which our collective work is embedded. We seek to meet the needs of communities without sacrificing the individual for the whole, nor the whole for the individual.
Humility
We believe humility is the willingness to step back so that others may step forward. We approach our work with the recognition that communities hold the insight, experience, and vision to guide their own transformation. Our responsibility is to listen, learn, share power, and center the voices and leadership of those most affected while using our platform in service of their priorities.
Care
We center the well-being of people, communities, and the planet in all that we do. It guides us to act with intention, responsibility, and compassion, ensuring production ecosystems nurture rather than deplete communities.
Shared Stewardship
We believe the responsibility to protect and sustain our collective environmental, cultural, and economic resources belongs to all of us. We work side by side with communities to care for what we hold in common, make decisions with transparency and accountability, and ensure that the benefits and responsibilities of production are justly shared and carried forward to future generations.
Learning
We learn from our individual and collective challenges as well as our successes. We see co-developing strategies, providing thoughtful feedback as we go, and bringing multiple perspectives to the work as critical to growing together.

Theory of Change
This Theory of Change illustrates how our interventions transform manufacturing away from extractive models that drive inequality and depletion, towards resiliency where people and production sustain each other.
Mechanism cultivates production ecosystems by:
Building
new and deepening existing relationships to explore shared challenges, emerging opportunities, and new ways of thinking about resilience through production.
Sharing
knowledge to help communities enhance their skills, understanding, and ability to navigate and contribute to the evolving landscape amidst disruption.
Collaborating
with partners to co-design and implement tools, strategies, and resources that address challenges faced by communities.
To deliver measurable outcomes that:
Safeguard the environment
Steward shared resources
Secure economic stability
Empower workers
