Racial Equity & Advancing the Future of Manufacturing
A Launch Commentary from UMA and The Century Foundation
This launch commentary marked the beginning of Industry and Inclusion 4.0, a national initiative from the Urban Manufacturing Alliance and The Century Foundation. Published during the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic, the report explores how a more inclusive manufacturing sector can help meet urgent national needs—delivering critical goods and creating good-paying jobs—while building pathways to economic opportunity for workers of color.
The publication introduces the Industry and Inclusion 4.0 cohort, a group of eight workforce development organizations from across the country working to make manufacturing more accessible and equitable:
- Jane Addams Resource Corporation (Chicago/Baltimore)
- LIFT (Detroit)
- MAGNET (Cleveland)
- Manufacturing Renaissance (Chicago)
- Menomonee Valley Partners (Milwaukee)
- MxD (Chicago)
- Northland Workforce Training Center (Buffalo)
- WRTP | BIG STEP (Milwaukee)
Together, these organizations are partnering with employers, educators, and communities to develop inclusive training models and support a more inclusive manufacturing workforce.
