Overview
On Thursday, March 26, 2026 from 12-1pm ET, the Mechanism team will host a 1-hour focus group for producers, makers, and small-batch manufacturers in and around Pittsburgh.
Insights shared at this discussion will inform recommendations for new shared resources, infrastructure, and investment in strategies to remove barriers to scaling and sustaining production-based businesses in the Pittsburgh region.
By attending the March discussion, participants will:
Build Cross-Industry Relationships: Connect with makers across industries and scales of production to spark collaboration, inform resource alignment, and strengthen networks that support inclusive local economies.
Shape Local Lab Direction: You will contribute directly to defining the goals, priorities, and outcomes of the ongoing Local Lab — helping to ensure future strategies reflect the real experiences and aspirations of people and communities in the region.
Who is Invited?
There is no limit to the scale of the business that can participate. We welcome "solopreneurs" and those with 50+ employees and everything in between. And we want companies at any stage of development, from those working out of your home studio to companies with their own production facility. We also want to hear from both business owners and employees!
This first industry group is open to all industries: from food and beverage manufacturers to glass blowers; from apparel and soft goods makers to steelworkers; from 3D printing pros to laser cutting novices. Future industry group discussions will be more focused based on what we learn in the first event.
Have your voice heard and influence what comes next!
