Andrew Dahlgren

Andrew Dahlgren is the Associate Program Director at Mechanism, where he helps communities navigate complex challenges and build sustainable solutions. With a background in industrial design and hands-on experience in entrepreneurship, he guides communities toward practical and impactful strategies.

Andrew earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design from North Carolina State University before moving to Austin, Texas, to work in a design-build architecture firm. After completing his Master’s Degree in Industrial Design at The University of the Arts in Philadelphia, he took an entrepreneurial path, running his own business as a designer, maker, and consultant while also teaching in product design, architecture, and crafts.

At Mechanism, Andrew is passionate about engaging with communities, understanding their needs, and working alongside them to develop solutions that drive long-term success. He values the meaningful and hands-on nature of his work, helping people respond to challenges with creativity and resilience.

Outside of work, Andrew enjoys making all kinds of things with his kids in his at home makerspace.
