Katy Stanton
Co-Executive Director
Katy Stanton is a Co-Executive Director at Mechanism, where she finds joy as a connector, bringing people and organizations together to build stronger, more collaborative communities. With a background in campaign politics, she has spent a decade uniting diverse groups around shared goals and impactful change.
One of Katy’s proudest moments was working on a congressional race in northern Wisconsin, where she helped a progressive candidate win in a traditionally conservative district by bridging divides and fostering connections between people. Now, at Mechanism, she applies that same passion to helping places, organizations, businesses, and workers form a dynamic, knowledge-sharing network that truly centers people and community.
Katy was drawn to Mechanism because of its power to bring together communities with different priorities and perspectives to work toward a common vision. She plays a key role in strengthening UMA’s network, building partnerships and finding resources for the UMA team and network to grow and thrive.
A nationally competitive frisbee player for over 20 years, Katy understands the value of teamwork both on and off the field. Whether she’s strategizing for Mechanism or training for her next game, she thrives in collective efforts. She graduated from Lawrence University with a Bachelors Degree in Government and Environmental Science.
